The Doctors embark on their greatest adventure in this
50th-anniversary special. In the 21st century, something terrible
is awakening in London's National Gallery; in 1562, a murderous
plot is afoot in Elizabethan England; and somewhere in space, an
ancient battle reaches its devastating conclusion. All of reality
is at stake as the Doctor's own dangerous past comes back to haunt
him.
Working Title: The No Doctors - (tentative title by
Steven Moffat, owing to the fact that
Jenna Coleman was the only actor under contract when
pre-production began).
Things to look out for:
- The Day Of The Doctor is the
sixth official multi-Doctor, televised story.
- The access code for Captain Jack's vortex manipulator is
'1716231163' - the time and date that An Unearthly Child aired in
1963 (17:16pm, 23/11/63).
- Tom Baker returns for the first time (not
counting archive footage), since his final appearance as The
Doctor in Logopolis (1981).
- Jenna-Louise Coleman is credited as
Jenna Coleman from this epsiode onwards.
Archive:
The complete episode exists.
Bloopers:
- In the final shot where The 11th Doctor joins all the
Doctors on the cloud, you can see the door handle on his TARDIS is
missing.
- Billie Piper is incorrectly credited as
Rose in the end credits. Billie played The Moment in the
story.
